Astley Media intern Alice captures some crazy marketing campaigns from over the years in our latest blog post…
1. Benefit and The Maldives
In February 2018, Benefit Cosmetics caused a stir on social media when they flew several bloggers out to the Maldives for a luxurious, all expenses paid trip. Instagram was flooded with snaps from the incredible trip, but many fans felt it was a little extravagant for what turned out to be a mascara launch. Despite many feeling underwhelmed, the trip created a lot of buzz and attention for the brand.
2. Red Bull Breaks a Record
Something that is bound to capture attention is an attempt at a world record. 3. Virgin Cola
To launch Virgin Cola in the US, Richard Branson drove a tank down Fifth Avenue in New York and ‘blew up’ the Coca-Cola sign in Times Square. The spectacular stunt is one of many outlandish Virgin Campaigns, and despite sales of the Cola rapidly declining, this campaign stood the test of time.
4. Tiger Woods and The Tallest Hotel in the World
In 2017 Tiger Woods was paid an astonishing $1 million fee to hit golf balls off a helipad on the tallest hotel in the world. The Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai has hosted many sports stars, with Andre Agassi and Roger Federer also playing tennis on the helipad.
5. KFC in the Desert
KFC decided to paint their logo in the desert near Area 51, visible enough that it could be seen on Google Earth!
