Planning an Event – Our Top Tips

  1. Try and set a budget and keep a tracker; it can be easy to get carried away and go over budget without one
  2. Create a resource planner and action plan that clearly lays out who will do what in the lead up to and on the day of the event
  3. Set aside time for pre-briefing(s) for key team members who will be working at the event
  4. If a physical event try and visit the venue before you commit; you will get a much better feel for the space and will be able to visualise the event much easier
  5. With the return to in-person events and relaxing of government guidelines it is worth still being mindful about potential questions and concerns from attendees regarding Covid
  6. Have a logistics plan. Think about timings for deliveries, set-up and take down and who will do what
  7. Depending on the event, adding an element of surprise can be a real wow factor
  8. Complete contingency planning e.g. what will you do if key team members are unwell 
  9. Arrange any catering as soon as possible  and be clear on any potential dietary requirements
  10. Make sure you about accessibility requirements (both in-person or virtual)
  11. Check the tech in advance
  12. Complete user training if using virtual event platforms such as Hopin or Zoom
