The Like Minds Ideas Festival welcomes family favourite Dennis the Menace to its South West event

Beano Studios, the home of Dennis and Gnasher, will take part in September’s Like Minds Ideas festival.

Digital and Commercial Managing Director Karen Eccles will join a host of speakers from global organisations, such as Lego and LinkedIn, at the Like Minds international ideas festival in Exeter this September.

Karen will talk about the legendary comic’s reinvention as it attempts to remain relevant in a new digital age.

The company recently set up Beano Studios to create, curate and distribute children’s entertainment across different channels, including television, live performances, merchandising and partnerships as well as the paper comic, annual and website. Britain’s longest-running comic, now has online influencers working alongside cartoonists and there is even a new CGI animation series set to air on CBBC this year.

After last year’s successful event in Bristol, the Like Minds Ideas Festival is returning to its hometown of Exeter for a day of inspirational speakers and immersive master classes. The international festival has also held events in Helsinki, Shanghai, London and New York.

Like Minds founder Drew Ellis comments:

“We are delighted to announce Beano Studios’ participation in September’s Festival. Karen will be talking about the comic’s determination to keep ahead of the trends and transform its product development, content and strategy, to succeed in a new digital era.”
