Keen to learn more about the world of PR and Marketing, Harriet joined Astley Media as an intern. Read about her experience here:
Stuck in the uncertain and difficult circumstances of searching for a graduate job in a pandemic, I chose to make the most of the extra time at home to gain some experience in the PR and marketing sector.
I came across Astley Media through a good friend, and due to living in Devon myself, I was keen to learn more and get in contact. I was subsequently offered a remote internship for January.
Despite never meeting the team face to face, I was made to feel so welcome, something that is undoubtedly important when working from home.
In my first week, I was given plenty of work to get on with. Many of the tasks included drafting social media content for a variety of clients, across Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook. I also worked on collating social media analytics for the Tech South West Awards, to create a report on the event.
As I gained experience, I was given more work including writing blog posts, drafting press releases and e-newsletters. The variety of tasks day to day meant I developed a number of new skills, and learnt invaluable insights into what it is like to work at a PR and Marketing Agency.
I really enjoyed my time interning for Astley Media, and they were always there to check in to see if I had any questions and to ensure I wasn’t taking on too much work. I always received detailed feedback on my work, which was invaluable to my learning.
I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to intern despite the circumstances of the pandemic, and I would like to thank everyone at Astley for providing me with a wealth of skills and knowledge. I would recommend this internship to anyone looking to gain experience in PR and Marketing, the team is so lovely!
