The end of this year has been one of the most exciting periods in Astley Media’s history. We’ve organised some pivotal events for our clients, brought to life a handful of fun and creative projects, led the way in coordinating one of the biggest business conferences in the South West and even rolled out the red carpet for a successful film premiere night for one of our clients! Here, we recount some of our highlights from the last month…

The Space Awards

Back in November, we organised the 2018 Space Awards alongside our client Space; a classy awards ceremony celebrating outstanding workspaces and recognising innovation in the workplace in Exeter and surrounding areas.

The event took place in the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter and attracted a fantastic turn out of companies across Devon, key business leaders and local industry representatives.

The award categories ranged from ‘Most Sustainable Space’ and ‘Best Shared Workspace’ to ‘Best Desk’ and winners on the night included The Devon Business & Education Centre, Exeter City Space, Chalk & Ward, Carousel Calenders, Hilton Barnfield Architects, Live West, PKF Francis-Clark and Crowdcube, with Lightfoot taking home the ultimate title of ‘Best Workspace Award’.

The project, which was part of Space’s ‘Future of the Workplace’ initiative, aimed to highlight how the working environment affects employees happiness, well-being, and productivity. It also hoped to encourage more organisations and businesses to be creative when planning their workspaces.

The night was a huge success, with plenty of networking, photography, nibbles and drinks and we had a blast supporting Space and watching our plans come to life.

Complete Teignmouth Office Launch & Film Premier

Our string of glamorous events continued throughout November with a Hollywood-themed office launch up next for our new client, rapidly-expanding Devon estate agents Complete.

The evening was in celebration of two major developments for Complete, the launch of their renovated office space in Teignmouth and the premiere of their ‘Live Where You Love’ film which we organised for them back in October.

The mini-movie, which is the first in a series of videos, stars Exeter Chiefs rugby players Julian Salvi and Moray Low and reveals why they believe Teignmouth is a fantastic place to live and work.

Hollywood was the theme and the event was complete (excuse the pun!) with red carpet, sparkling goodie bags for guests, canopies kindly supplied by the Crab shack in Teignmouth, plenty of fizz to go around and even a fully-functioning, retro popcorn machine!

The premiere was a really positively received and several local celebrities, dignitaries, businesses leaders and Complete clients came out to support the glitzy event.

We are delighted to be continuing our work with Complete into the New Year and to bring to life many more exciting and creative projects that are currently in the pipe-line for 2019.

HoT SW LEP Conference 2018

Another major highlight for us this month was organising the annual Heart of the South West LEP Conference 2018 which took place at Sandy Park in mid November.

The event was attended by around 300 delegates and several local companies and organisations, who were also given the opportunity to promote their brand and network across the three conference spaces.

The days proceedings followed a programme of speeches from LEP representatives, including newly appointed CEO David Ralph and Chairman Steve Hindley, and followed some fantastic talks from key industry leaders and discussion panels.

Topics included everything from upcoming growth projects, innovation in business, the importance for digital technology in today’s current market, global economic forecasts and Brexit debates.

As one of the largest business summits in the region, the conference was a great opportunity to network, engage in discussion about pertinent topics of today’s business climate and hear from industry experts.

The team have been working tirelessly around the clock and as a result, it’s safe to say we are very much looking forward to a restful and relaxing Christmas break. However, with so much in store for the New Year, we’re ready to re-charge our batteries this holiday season and kick start the fun once more in 2019.
